Minis, Junior & Youth Section

The Mini & Junior Section at Glossop Rugby Club has been a thriving section of the Club for many years now and we hope for many years to come. We believe it's success is down to the commitment of all involved in the section to ensuring that any child, irrespective of age or gender, play the game of Rugby in a safe and fun environment. Our No. 1 consideration is Child Protection and to this end all our coaches are qualified, Criminal Record Bureau checked and aware of our Club Child Protection Policy and procedures.

No coach runs a session alone and parents are actively encouraged to watch training sessions and matches. Rugby is a game for all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities and we believe that every child who trains has a right to play.

We have regular fixtures against teams from nearby Clubs and, in accordance with the RFU Continuum, players only play against and with players of their own age.

Our coaching emphasis is on playing fairly, winning with modesty and losing with dignity. Children who play rugby at Glossop should learn:

§ Respect for their coaches, team mates and opposition

§ Respect for ALL match officials, particularly referees § Fair Play

§ Self control § Responsibility for themselves and their team mates

§ Commitment

§ Rugby Skills

§ Enjoyment of the great game of Rugby Union.

Rubgy is a game for all - come and try it!

Glossop RUFC has age groups from 5-11 years in the Minis, 12-16 years in the juniors and 16-18 years youth
Most Minis groups are mixed boys and girls.
All training sessions are on a Sunday morning starting at 10:00am at the club house and run throughout the season - early September to late April. Don't worry if you miss the start of the season, come along any time.
All coaches are qualified and the section has its own child protection officer.
