Glossop Rugby Club Elected Officers Duties

President

Titular head of the Club. Represents the Club at official meetings. Liaises with sponsors and dignitaries. Ensures the Club is operating in an efficient, effective and honourable manner.

Chairman

Overall responsibility for the operation of the Club. Arranges (together with the Secretary) and chairs General Committee Meetings, AGMs and EGMs. Responsible for the activities of the Club Manager. Arranges sponsorship and liaises with sponsors. Ensures the Club is financially sound. Actively involved in major projects and strategy issues.

Treasurer

Prepares budgets and provides regular financial reports on actual v budget performance. Analyses income, expenditure, margin and profitability. Pays invoices, staff wages and VAT. Controls cash flow. Liaises with the bank (s) and reconciles statements. Prepares annual accounts and arranges audit. Ensures monies received are banked. Controls the “purse strings”. Liaises with the Chairman to ensure that the club is on a sound financial footing.

Assistant Treasurer

Assists the Treasurer as required. Deputises at General Committee Meetings.

Secretary

Deals with correspondence. Arranges (together with the Chairman) General Committee Meetings, AGMs and EGMs. Takes and circulates minutes of meetings.

Chair of Rugby

Heads selection committee. Reviews player progress. Arranges shirts and other kit for the season. Responsible for all training and playing equipment. Ensures referees are available for all senior games. Assists captains in preparation for match days. Wherever possible arranges first aid cover for matches. Liaises with the RFU and other official bodies regarding rugby issues. Sits on internal disciplinary panel.

Fund Raising Chairman

Arranges, advertises and promotes social and other fund raising activities. Arranges sponsorship with Chairman and produces sponsor backed publications e.g. Wall Chart and match programmes.

Chair of Minis and Juniors

Overall responsibility for the operation and development of mini and junior rugby from ages 4 to 17. Organises and directs coaches. Arranges (through mini and junior match secretary) fixtures for all teams. Ensures proper procedures are in place for child protection. Ensures that Sunday mornings are organised and operate efficiently including match referees, collecting of subs and sale/distribution of kit. Arranges school tournaments and matches at the Club.

Asst. Chair of Minis and Juniors

Assists the Chair of Minis and Juniors as required. Deputises at General Committee Meetings.

Chair of House

Responsible for ensuring that the Clubhouse is properly maintained, has required facilities and is in a serviceable condition. Liaises with the Club Manager regarding provision of food and overall cleanliness.

Chair of Grounds

Responsible for ensuring the pitches are in the best possible condition and that the surrounds are maintained and kept clean/tidy. Ensures that pitches are marked and equipment is available e.g. flags, for match days.

Chair of Public Affairs

Liaises with the press and other media regarding playing and social activities. Responsible for internal publicity and publications e.g. the newsletter and the 1st team match day programme. Ensures that the web site (in liaison with the web master) is accurate and up to date.

Club Captain

Point of contact between players and committee. Is the barometer of general feelings and concerns of players. Brings issues to the attention of the General Committee. Sits on internal disciplinary panel. Currently responsible for the 200 Club

Fixture Secretary

Arranges all senior fixtures. Liaises with league fixture bodies.

1st Team Captain

Member of selection committee. Selects 1st team. Contacts players regarding their selection. Determines player availability. Ensures players arrive on time for fixtures and that equipment e.g. shirts, rugby balls and water is available. Determines together with 1st team coach training requirements and match tactics. Encourages, motivates and develops players both on and off the pitch. Arranges collection of match day subs.

2nd Team Captain

Member of selection committee. Selects 2nd team. Contacts players regarding their selection. Determines player availability. Ensures players arrive on time for fixtures and that equipment e.g. shirts, rugby balls and water is available. Determines together with 2nd team coach, training requirements and match tactics. Encourages, motivates and develops players both on and off the pitch. Arranges collection of match day subs.

3rd Team Captain

Membership Secretary

Ensures the collection of annual subscriptions. Reconciles member list with monies collected. Encourages new members and makes contact with members who have not been at the Club for a period of time.
